Gegam Kacherian was born in Yerevan, Armenia and received a BFA there from Terlemezian Fine Arts College. He then moved to Los Angeles where he has lived ever since. He began exhibiting in Paris, then in Moscow. In 2002 he was included in a group exhibition curated by Jay Belloli for Long Beach Arts, followed by a group show juried by Noel Korten, Connie Butler and Youn Soon Min for the Korean Cultural Center and again, at the same venue, a show in 2004 juried by David Pagel, Davin Moon, and Gary Kornblau. His first one-artist shows in LA were in 2003 at Gallery 825/LAAA Annex, Santa Monica, then at HAUS, Pasadena followed by a show at Jancar Gallery in 2007.
Kacherian had a retrospective exhibition at Los Angeles Valley College in 2013. His work has also been in group shows in Medellin, Colombia; Belgrade Museum of Contemporary Art, Serbia; Tennis Palace Art Museum, Helsinki; The Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena; Rio Hondo College exhibition curated by Michael Duncan; several exhibitions of Selections from the Frederick R. Weisman Collection in various venues around the country; and Stiching Kaus Asustralis, Rotterdam. He has had artist residencies in Paris; Jeiu, Korea; Bangkok; and Idyllwild Arts, CA. He has lectured at the Weisman Foundation Distinguished Visiting Artist-in-Residence, California State Summer School for the Arts, Valencia; and at College of the Canyons. He has exhibitied with Rosamund Felsen Gallery in 2008.
